If you like plants and having them around, you know you aren't alone. Being around plants makes people feel better.
WorkshopJAX can teach you how to start and grow plants and help you understand the market for plants.
Or you can grow for yourself and serve your community in sustainable ways.
Each Saturday morning WorkshopJAX hosts a plant parenting workshop session. Each week has a different plant parenting task focus. We start new plants. We also take care of the plants we've started in previous weeks. We have plants that are ready for new homes. Our Kalanchoe in paper cups are free. The herbs are priced by their size and the kind of pot they have.
These purple coneflowers are Echinacea.
Echinacea are not only pretty flowers, they are also a medicinal herb for respiratory illness, and their seeds are favorites with birds, especially goldfinches. And they are native plants.
WorkshopJAX has seeds for these and several other herb and food plants.
Plant parenting happens every week even if no one comes to participate. The plants need the care. We start the discussion at 10:30 am and conclude by noon. We have non latex gloves. Consider a simple apron. You will be hands on. You can taste the seeds and some leaves.
WorkshopJAX tries to keep the Facebook information up to date.
The plant topics should be in the events list.
WorkshopJAX teaches for free. You need to pay for supplies you use and things that you take home.
